Meropa Healing Organisation was founded in response to the high prevalence of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), poverty and unemployment in Rustenburg. We exist so that survivors are not left alone, and so that women and youth have a way out of poverty.
We are a registered non-profit (NPO 297-697). We support survivors emotionally, we create jobs through our social enterprises, and we work with communities to prevent violence before it happens.
We work in Paardekraal and Greater Boitekong, Rustenburg, North West, South Africa.
Our mandate is to assist women, youth and persons with disabilities on issues of GBVF, psychosocial support, economic inclusion and social justice.
Our primary beneficiaries. Our programmes are accessible and inclusive, so nobody is left behind.
We help survivors understand and pursue their rights, and we speak out for fair treatment in our community.
Emotional and psychological care for victims and survivors, to help them rebuild their lives.
Income-generating projects that give women and youth practical skills and a path to independence.
Every survivor is treated with respect, privacy and care.
We are open about our work and answerable to the people we serve.
We build confidence, skills and economic independence.
We stand against violence and for fair treatment of everyone.
Women, youth and persons with disabilities are at the centre of our work.
